The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I want to say this is a roo but the comb and wattles haven't gotten bigger yet....they are really close to the same body size but the orp kept trying to duck down to get out. they are both around 10 weeks old and the blrnn has huge wattles...
this jubilee is from the roo I culled because he was way too dark, which obviously passed to his offspring...
so is this a cockeral?

and the light colors on this one made me think this was a pullet, but the tail is just starting to come in

I think this one is 6 weeks old, it is cold because I brought it outside and it still has heat in the brooder....
cockeral or pullet?

Can you take pic the wing feathers?
Had to say in this angle

I won't be keeping my splash...I have limited space so I am focusing on my blacks. But she is so pretty. I love the blue hue of them. I did not realize that the "splash" was not a recognized color at this point with orps....am I understanding that correctly?

Correct, Splash is a recognized color/variety in a few breeds, I know for sure in Silkies it is but it is not yet a standard color for Orps.

There are some folks working on changing that.

I've been begging poor kidcody for some of her lovely birds and intensely discussing a lavender orp project with WA-4Hpoultrymom, so I figured I'd spread the wealth

We want to start a flock of orps, and I love the look of the English Orps. Does ANYBODY have hatching eggs, chicks, breeding pairs/groups (the latter in WA or OR) in chocolate, jubilee, or some other color you can sell me on???? I'm clearing out my coops of pleasantly mixed breeds so I can keep a single breed in each. It would be wonderful to have a head start with pairs/groups or even chicks, but I'll resort to eggs if necessary!

Pretty, pretty please????

I recently got the chance to purchase 4 Chocolate Bantam Orpingtons...I thnk I got at least 1 pair but it may be 1 boy and 3 girls or 2 pair...they are still to young but one has a much bigger comb than anyone else and is feathering much slower. I now have the chance to purchase a pair of juvenile Jubilee Bantam Orpingtons from a breeder who has some from the Rob Boyd line. I was looking to buy the Large Fowl and did some looking around for those but my husband is thinking i might have enough birds for a while...so seeing Bantams are much smaller I was hoping to sneak these guys in...What would be a fair price for a pair of thesse bantams seeing that LF juvenile pairs are soooooo expensive? Also any thoughts anyone has or advice would be great. These are my first Orpingtons ever, Thanks.
I don't know the answer to your question, but I am absolutely salivating over your opportunities! I R E A L L Y want some chocolate English Orps or Jubilee, even.

Hi - I got your PM and I will respond in a few minutes.

In short we have three lines of chocs. We have one line that is from Marc (Rob Boyd), one line from Orpingtons Galore (Sandy), one line from Greenfire. In addition we have Orp Galore split blacks (Roger Clarke bloodline) which are over Orp Galore hens. We have the most diverse bloodlines out their in the chocs which is a must to keep good color.

I posted a picture of the male earlier here - but I will also update photos on my site here in a moment.

Thanks,
Richard
