The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Hi fellow Orpington lovers. I just joined after a few months of enjoying everyones birds. I have 4 Orpingtons. All are very young. 2 nine month ole Whites (boy and a girl), and 2 four month ole Buffs that my hubby got for our 10 year old girl to show at junior Shows in 4H next year. I see alot of different Orpington threads and hope I am at the right place.
Everyone enjoy yor babies. Amd hope to learn more on what to do to get mine ready for next spring.

I am so proud of my English orps. I just have to post some pictures that I took today. All of these are 1st generation from Chicks that I bought from Bamachicken. Except for 2 that hatched this spring from RebelYell. The splash roo and his special lady...I call them Harry and Pippa. I will caption so you know who is who. They are for sure my eye candy. I just love them.

Loving all the bird pics. I ordered my first Jubilee and he came in the mail today. He is beautiful but kinda matted and covered in the sticky watermelon used to hold him over on his journey from Cali. Off to get him bathed and cleaned up. He is 4 months old and huge. I will add pics very soon. Now to find him a mate lol. I am very happy to have him here at our farm. Talk about yard ornament and eye candy. The person I bought him off of was a pleasure to work with. I will post details when I post pics. She still has another for sale and she got hers from greenfire farms.
wish I could GIVE away my extra jubilee boys

What birds do you have that carry the Mottled gene?

I got some Lavenders (not English) from a lady nearby who has since passed away. I think she said her original stock was from Hinkjc and I had several mottled chicks pop up this year. Then I added a black 7/8 English roo to my Lavender hens for a while and hatched one little black chick that had more yellow/white on her than normal (the second chick in my avatar pic...there is a thread with more pics somewhere). She has lighter feet and had some white specks in her head feathers, so I will separate her and breed her to my mottled Lavender rooster when they get older and see what I get! I also have a pretty little mottled Lavender pullet that I will try with one of the black roosters and see what happens there as well.

I have a question about beak and leg colors. I believe black and blue orps should have black? Is that correct? So is there any chance of the chicks I just got changing colors as they age?
