The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Finally had time to take pictures today of some juvenile Orpingtons, all home bred.
The weather is gorgeous and no wind at all and that's quite unusual for Oklahoma.

hi marc your birds are looking great as allways

Nice cuckoo Marc

I have one pip in the five eggs in the bator. I haven't hatched any chicks in the bator since Feb. Had a handful hatch under broodies. I am so ready for some baby chicks. I sure hope these hatch. I have a set up with a great black Cock and Black hen and splash pullet with them. I will know who these came from if they hatch. They are due tomorrow so right on time with the pipping. I just wish someone else was laying. I am having to buy eggs to eat. That is just pitiful when your spending 100 dollars a month on feed.
Thanks for the info on Calf Manna. My birds are loving it and seems the hens are feathering in faster since I started them on it. They have been in a super long molt an none have started laying again yet.

such a happy time hatching chicks..always exciting ..cant wait to get some in, but wont be till feb..its so hard waiting..once the new barn is built we will add a solarium combo baby chick area and greenhouse....

everyone here molting yet those australorps do not quit..every hen so far putting out an egg a day..mrs softie is another story..shes busy molting so dont bother her..she hasnt laid an egg since september.shes out flying around the yard this morning ..she starts out in straight line flight then in mid air spins like a helecopter out of control LOL.for a big bird, she can put on quite a show..even funnier with an english orp galloping beside her.the calf manna really works..there are a lot of horse show people here that buy it all up , so local feed store is finnally going to hold 2 bags for me..every time i go in its gone.

Thanks Aveca,
I think she is beautiful too. I am considering showing her up here in Wisconsin. I am testing the them next week.
Go for it! love her..i would love to have a couple just like her..please keep us posted on the show..love to see some pics ...

Okay, I am like a new momma this morning. I have a beautiful Silver blue baby chick hatched when i got up. It is large too. Have two more pipped. I am hopeful. I am betting they will all be blue if they hatch as the black girl was in a molt so I don't know if she was laying or not

I remember in my horse show days giving mine Calf Manna and let me tell you, it does make a difference in them! And my chickens as well. There's still some a bit tatty and ragged from molt but they definately picked up when I started feeding it to them in August.
