The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Couple of love birds. The rooster is almost 2 and his sweet heart is about 7mos. We mostly breed Wyandottes and are pretty new to the Orpingtons... Your input, the good and not so good on their type, would be fantastic. Chocolates fade with age??

Chocolate feathers do dull with age, or get bleached by the sun like Blue feathers can.

However I'd be more concerned with what looks like color leakage on your roo. Are his saddle feathers always that color, or are they old?

Also, on his wings, are those red feathers?

If he does have leakage you do not want to use him, or his offspring, for breeding.

He was in the sun all summer and yes, his feather are old. I have pics of him with new feathers and there was no red in the wings and his saddle was dark.

Thank you for the advise. All good to know stuff!

Just had to post a pic. of my 8 month old here, A friend of mine hatched him out of eggs he got from me & let me have him back cause he didn't need 2 roosters.
