**The Last Spark** A Magic RP

Pics
Ester eventually left her little hiking trip, walking down from the mountain until she finally arrived at a parking lot where people stopped to go up this trail.

She got on her bike that she had left on a bike rack and started to ride home, which was a considerable distance away since she lived in the country so she could freely make use of her magic and practice with experiments without a soul noticing.

One hand was free from the handles of the bike so she could use it to brush her annoyingly long hair out of her face as it whipped about in the wind, while the other controlled the bike with steady strength as she rode on a trail of rocks and dust, the wheels kicking up the dirt and allowing it to settle on Ester's pale skin.

She kept her head down whenever she passed someone who seemed too interested in any suspicious behavior, and as the fragrant smell of blooms filled the air and crowds of people died out Ester smiled slightly, glad to be back home where everything was familiar and safe. Many Mages had offered her safe spaces and help before in the past, but she truly didn't know if she could ever give up her home; a place where so many memories had been made, and where all of her family used to reside with her as a child. All of that seemed like a cold dream now, though. A cold dream she didn't want to let go of.

Ara's eyes widened at that very public and passionate kiss then dipped her head. Well, ok then, they were certainly a couple. She blinked then looked to Maddox, focusing on him as the pair left the room "Um, water, I am a water mage. What are you?" She asked, curious herself since she hadn't known many other mages.

Maddox smiled at her as he wondered if it was a coincidence that her last name was river. "Fire mage, and my name is Maddox. Man we could have used you earlier. " He said with a sheepish grin as he gestured to the scorched couch.

Ara looked over to the couch and raised an eyebrow "Indeed" She said then chuckled softly. It was good to know there were others out here, that she wasn't the only mage and that they could make small mistakes here. "Being a water mage runs in my family."

Jade looked to him, her eyes widening at his challenge. It was too soon though and she turned away, pressing herself closer to the tree, hiding. The tree covered her, hiding her away from sight. It didn't grow anymore, but did become more defensive and would attack anything that came inside it's limited range. It's only directive was to defend and keep Jade safe since she wasn't actively controlling it anymore. Not that the tree had any thought, as proven when the branches destroyed the furnishings that were touching it or in it's range, even reaching for Luka when he used his ice on it. If it caught him, it would wrap him up in the branches until he couldn't move. If it couldn't catch him, it still wouldn't let him close without trying again. Eventually it would settle, when there was nothing left but slivers of the furniture, but the branches continued to moved as if there was a breeze even inside the still room.
Luka stared at her, clearly disappointed. He looked at the tree, having grown enormous for a small plant. He broke the ice from his hands and relaxed. He walked up to the tree and looked for Jade, saying softly "Ok, we're done. And you're more of a defensive mage. And don't worry about that, that could mean I could do the fighting and you could keep us safe. How does that sound?"

Ester left her bike in the yard next to her sweet-smelling orchard, and stepped lightly onto the ground with her bare feet, gathering the basket of herbs and berries she had found while hiking and heading to her door to walk inside.

Her home was small, and despite her bright and peaceful appearance and aura, it seemed cold and depressing. Dirtied picture frames hung on the wall, some chipped and some cracked, all containing some childhood memory that you could sense created a jealousy in Ester's soul, even if they were unpleasant.

A slouching little girl with white hair shadowing her face and a small bird on her shoulder could be seen in some wooden frames, with only a pout visible on her face as she stood by who somebody would assume was her dad. The man's hand was placed lovingly on her shoulder that wasn't occupied with a bird, but the affection didn't seem to be shared back as the girl awkwardly held one of her arms, leaning away from her dad and glancing grumpily at the camera.

There were other pictures of Ester when she was that little, but she never looked happy, and her mother and father were never in the same pictures together. Ester appeared to always be standing awkwardly with either her mom or dad, disliking both of them.

Her teenage photos had more expression, but they were still unpleasant. She looked pretty much the same, just taller with more defined features and longer hair, but still appeared grumpy or even hateful.

In one she could be seen trying to push herself out of a hug from her dad, who she seemed to spend more time with than her mom, and in another she was smiling almost truthfully, but making a rude gesture with her middle finger at the camera as she held a dead duck by its neck outside, blood dripping from its chest where it had been shot.

The only photo that seemed genuinely happy was one that showed a little bit more of who Ester really was, with her holding a bright blue tarantula in one hand and a business card for breeding tarantulas in the other as an older teen, with bookshelves full of schoolbooks on science and novels on philosophy, and tanks full of jellyfish and lizards and snakes sitting neatly in the background. Her closet was opened; with clothes containing profanity messily put onto plastic hangers, some about to fall onto the ground, but it too was also mostly filled with animal tanks, for ones that preferred the dark.

Most of these pictures were odd ones to hold onto, and it was surprising how much Ester had obviously changed during her childhood to her adulthood, but Ester just had some unmentioned liking towards them.

(I'll make a character for her.)

Maddox laughed at her comment and her expression. Looking at the couch made him laugh too, making light of the horrible moments. He envied her a bit, water must be much easier to control then fire. "That is pretty cool, I wish I had been born a water mage. My dad was a fire mage, my mom and sisters were light mages. I was actually born an ordinary and rather boring human." He said, he worked to keep a lid on his emotions talking about his family. He didn't want another flare up, as long as he didn't start talking about how they died he would probably be ok he thought.

He wouldn't be able to see her, the tree wouldn't allow him to get close, knocking him back then wrapping the smaller branches around him to hold him in place.

Ara frowned and dipped her head. She didn't much like talking about her family either. To be born human meant he had been given his powers due to death, and that was never easy. "Well, it's good you are around other mages, learning to use your powers is never easy."
