things happened on Sunday and I was not able to get the tylan, but the stuff I have is called Baytril will that work?

He seems worse both his legs are out foward and he cant seem to stand anymore. maybe he broke his hip? I am so confused. I am going to build him a sling in a few minutes...

Well he does not like the sling but I dont care at least he is not spread eagle on the ground anymore. With what I spent on him you would think I would go to a vet but I am wiped out having just received a new lawyer bill that is more than an average car.

Man..how about a slice of pizza-a corona with lime wedges-and a marlboro light? Thats makes us feel better sometimes!!! Sorry just a little humor to add onto this very sad baby--

That sounds so horrible, AHappyChick. : (

The crackling noise you described sounds like subcutaneous emphysema to me. I've heard of it in other birds, not chickens, though. If I remember right, it comes from some kind of puncture or maybe chest trauma. I hope that helps you figure out whatever happened to the poor guy.

Yes, you can try the Baytril. It's fine for birds. You can also try aspirin, though I don't know if it would work.

ASPIRIN SOLUTION (from MSUCares)

Used as a general treatment for reducing distress conditions of birds (fever or listlessness) that accompanies many diseases.

Dissolve five (5 grain) aspirin tablets in one gallon of water.

Offer this solution free-choice to the birds for the duration of an illness. The solution aspirin equivalent to 25 grains/gallon or 324 mg/gallon of drinking water. The dosage rate is about 25 mg/lb body weight per day.

ok thank you I will give both I have taken him out of the sling and have him proped in the corner with the food and water infront of him because he hated it.
