The Legbar Thread!

Thanks. I just wish I knew what was going on with this batch of birds. I've had nothing be problems out of them. I have her in the house and I put Nutri-Drench in her water. I may put Corid in her water and feed her Poly-vi-Sol a few times a day.

So I put Corid in her water, gave her a bit of Poly-vi-Sol and made her an egg with some Vitamin B complex. Tomorrow I will get some plain yogurt for her. She can use the legs. I just saw her scratch her head but for some reason she can't stand on them.

just so you know mareks CAN kill a bird if they are exposed before the vaccine has a chance to develop immunity. if use of legs worsens and she gets thin it would concern me...

She has none of the symptoms for MS. Also, the other 2 birds all had healthy organs when the necropsy was done. She is actually quite healthy and active, eats well and has good weight. She's being rather vocal right now as she is very unhappy to be in a cage and not outside.

Oh, I thought you noted lameness. Sorry....

when I had the necropsy done on my birds last year the ones that died quickly had to be re-examined after a more severe one was checked. the first one that we culled when it showed signs didn't have "obvious" signs that said MAREKS but could have been many things...but when they examined the bird we kept alive for a long time before culling they found it...just FYI

oh, and mine were also vaccinated for mareks

She does have lameness but that's it. Her poops look normal, she's eating, she looks great, she just can't stand on her legs though she can control them.
