The Legbar Thread!

Great pictures Sheriff and Johnn----

Sheriff--you need to send me your camera and you broody. (seriously I think I just got a camera that makes that painting/illustrating effect---so just send the broody). I think that the pictures are so domestic and adorable...

IMO broodiness is a good trait.

If you think it is amusing, here is a link to a broody Cream Legbar.....I found it on You Tube.

This is in the UK and the hen's crest is barred instead of black -- one of the things that makes me think some UK Cream Legbars look very different from those in the USA.

Lucky...I''m not ready for a broody hen. Took me a month to get mine back to laying....Then the Ameraucanas went broody and it was a total waste of eggs...but selling those off as soon as i get a buyer on Craigslist.
I've had some Legbar inquiries from cragislist and I might sell one of my pullet chicks. Not sure what to ask...Pricing is difficult here in Sothtern New Hampshire. Gotta keep it low enough but high enough... I was thinking $50 but is that too low or too high? My husband says I should go higher but how much can SoNH market bare? I cannot imagine anyone paying over $50 around here and I'm not yet ready to ship birds.I gotta think about this for a bit.

I might do it just to test the market but I don't think I'll sell anymore until I have hatched out the eggs in the incubator just to make sure i have enough of my own.

GFF sells them for 60$ but you won't get that. I'd say 40$

well, i went up to the hens and her and the other broody got off their nests, they were both eating then 10 mins later the orpington went back to her nest and melow went out with the other chickens!, half an hour later melow came back stuck her heaid through the pop hole turned around and went back into the feild, so i caught her and tried to start her off sitting in the broody coop and she went mental so i let her out then she went away for 10 mins came back got on the wrong nest then got back out ran away for 10 mins then came back and sat on the right nest!

Thought I'd take some pictures this most gorgeous New England morning. This is my second pair - love her crest this is him - hard to catch up to (excuse my feeble attempt at chicken saddle laying on the ground there)and this is the pullet This is him on the escapeThis is my original roo - his comb did not fare well this winter but the floppiness did straighten up quite a bit from when he came out the box - He's a nice guy and loves being Alpha rooThis iis my original hen This is my first pullet that is out of the brooder - her crest is really nice - did not sell her off - the $50 price was too high and i really don't want to sell anything yet...keeping it fun.
These are iphone pics so not the greatest.

As soon as I can get the computer off my partner for more than 5 mins I'll download my pics, She is now in what I think are her full colours with a funny brown quiff.

We bought her at 2 weeks old
