mine do that also...the reason I think they do it and I might be wrong this is just what I have observed is that when you hold a chicken it is higher up than the rest...I believe they think that when someone is taller than them they are trying to be dominate...have you ever notice that rooster when they crow they want to get on top of something and be higher than the others?...and also they say whoever sleeps on the highest roost is the most dominate...but again I could be wrong

I wouldnt know about the roost thing.. all my coops have one roost.. but thsts why my blrw roo stands while sleeping! Lmao

You are right... the higher the roost position the most dominate.

One of my darling mille fleur bantams turned out to be a cockerel, I'm fairly certain. I don't have space for a rooster in my tractor since I'm not breeding, much as I know how gorgeous he'll be. Any takers? $5.
