The Middle Tennessee Thread

I'm sorry I was talking to the wrong person. Pickle I guess it is you who needs the congrats on the bator! Please continue to show us more! Sorry for the name mixup.
No problem and thank you. I plan on putting another 225 watt incukit in it the wiring is real simple all the connectors are there. Its from incubator warehouse digital thermo nice lcd display should be no problem keeping this heated. I do plan on using the thicker 1/4" plexi it should work fine.

5 hours and 30 minutes later I have my new bator thrown together. Just have to apply a little stain and sealer and make some plexi glass doors. My fan and heater will fit in the center underneath of the center facer. This should make things real easy when it comes to candling.

The cardboard mock-up

Coming together

Kreg pocket hole jig...don't leave home without it

Sides, back, and front pocket holes drilled ready for screws and glue

face frame ready to go

Pickle,I have heard that a lot of people have good sucess leaving the eggs in the turners to hatch, just turning them off at the approriate time. If you fitted a wire floor inside maybe a 1/2 - inch off the floor could you also use it for the hatching process, like if you set bothe trays at one time. I would rather do that I think and have a bigger bunch of chicks at one time.

I would use a separate hatcher. Keep the bator clean that way. All the dust, feathers stuff stay in one place and it would be easy to clean too. My hatcher I can just wipe it down with oxine between hatches.

Wayne.... I hatched 1 Light Sussex and maybe another one. I have to check with they guy that shipped me the eggs. It was marked a Rhodebar, but it is white too

he sent me 4 more eggs too. I will set them in a few days. Sorry I didn't have a better hatch....

I plan on building a separate hatcher to me the whole hatching thing tends to be a bit messy. I would like to keep my incubator nice and tidy. I am also several months away from ever being able to collect enough eggs to fill the bator at one time. I can't imagine the mess that would make on the turners and those are a real pain to clean.
