We have not really gotten together since I have been on here for about 2 years. Some have gotten together like at the fair or something, but that is usually just a few people. It is hard to get a group to agree on a date and place.

This will be a great group for someone -- I tested fertility on these & 14 of 14 were growing strong til about day 16 when I had a bad temp spike, the spike got most of what I had in that bator but I still got 50% = 7 SFH chicks. All 7 are growing strong, it looks now like 5 will have crests. I've been happy so far w/ these chicks, they are curious friendly and interesting to watch as they grow and feather out no two exactly alike. I'd buy the parents myself if I had the $ & space...Since my space is limited, I'm thinking of selling my Swedish Flower Hen roo with three of the hens. I love them - but the hatching eggs don't really bring in much - and I could better use the space. I'd keep two of my 5 hens to put with my layer flock. I want to keep two of them because I really like the way they look.
Anybody in middle TN interested in buying a great Swedish Flower Hen quad. I don't want to ship year old birds. They are just a year old (in March) - and they're gorgeous. The rooster is crested - and one of the three hens is crested, too.
The three hens would be the grey one (really gorgeous), the red/white one and the mostly white one. The rooster is a red mille fleur pattern - so with those three hens you'd get some great chick color combinations.

She should be ok, looks like a garter snake to me. No real danger except to mice & maybe an egg. Look at the eye are the pupils shaped more up & down or round ? Up & down = poisonous. Round = not Good dog though.

It is a Garter snake so i called my dad ( a game warden) and he told me that they are venomous but a very mild nuerotoxin which will make her sick but she will be fine just not to let her get dehydrated also found them on wikipedia which told me the same. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ThamnophisThat's a garter snake. When I first moved here, I made a point of learning what the the native venomous snakes look like. The list is short and every one of them is a pit viper. No pits, no venom. http://www.tennsnakes.org/venomous_not.htm
Alex can still help with that can't he?So sorry your dog got bitten, hope she recovers okay. I just don't like snakes, good ones or bad!
Enjoying these nice warm days! Need to get some pens built after this past weekend! Went to the sale sat and got 4 pairs of bantams, then today was very lucky and got six americanna hens off craigslist for only #6 each! I had gotten a nice roo sometime back but hadn't been able to find any hens I thought I could afford. Was sure happy to get these! Now to find someone close who hatches eggs!
So sorry your dog was bitten. To me, the only good snake is a dead one. A friend told me guineas kill snakes. Anyone know if that's true? We have 11 of them, I'm hoping they do!!
