Hey all you middle TN people! 
So glad @rjohns39 directed me to this thread. I'm supposed to get my chicks tomorrow from Hoover Hatchery and I'm a bit nervous because it's been so cold at night. I've learned they don't seem to ship with heat packs...
Glad someone else asked the question about leaving them outside for good around me too. I've also read 4-6 weeks but it's so cold outside right now. Ok, it's gorgeous during the day granted, but the wind is cold and the nights are fairly frigid. Yes, I'm a wuss!

On the bright side it was a good dry run to have it all set up and ready to go.
I’ll post pics later but 1. They’re bigger than I thought. 2. The shipping box was a lot smaller than I thought - but make sense. I also got only a few to drink and the rest picked it up quickly. I noticed they weren’t interested in the food but I figured after over 24 hours of traveling being cold I’d give them an hour or so under the heat lamp. You guys have let me know it’s normal for them to sleep a bunch so they’re all huddled under the heater plate now. In 30 I’ll head back out and do the paper towel thing. THey can find it on their own then I believe. Right?
