The new (human) baby thread...

Just got back from Walmart. They don't have the Parent's Choice formula in 8 oz ready to feed bottles so I wound up getting Similac. Hopefully I won't need to use any, but it's nice to have on hand just in case. The craziest thing... Walmart doesn't have Parent's Choice on their website! I tried to look it up last night to show DH exactly what I wanted and it wasn't there, only Similac and Enfamil.

Oh well, I wound up going with him anyway.

Ok, now a question about formula. Since I'm pumping exclusively there have been a couple of times that I've had to supplement little man with a little of formula. I have a sample can of powdered Enfamil Premium but he doesn't seem to like it at all ( and I hate having to give him any, but maintaining a good milk supply when he hardly lets me put him down is really hard!

Anyway, I think I'm going to get some ready to feed formula because as little as I'm using it is crazy for me to keep opening up cans of powder... I won't use it all before the month is up and will have to throw it out. What has everyone's experience been with the different formula brands? What has been best tolerated... especially by babies who are used to (and prefer) breast milk?

I have breastfed both my kids exclusively and never had to supplement but a few friends of mine have and basically we figured that the babies didn't like the taste of formula when they were accustomed to breastmilk. Breastmilk is sweet and light whereas formula taste like iron/metallic and is heavier, some babies just wont wont do the switch or supplement.

I have had to start supplimenting for Ell since my milk is on the fritz and we have been using the enfamil AR. she is still colicy, has acid reflux and she projectile spit ups and it has been the only formula to stand up to her digestive tract lol. it costs toooo much though.

I had the same thing happen with some of my babies.....they wouldn't drink the formula so if you want to supplement start early.

I had my babies 10 months apart and had to supplement because the milk supply really drops once you are pregnant......one good thing about having the older baby still breastfeeding when the new one is born is you can use her to ease the engorgement.. Have you talked to the dr about Pravicid or zantac for the reflux. My babies tend to get reflux and spit up blood......prevacid was a life savor.

My favorite diapers are Meijer brand (grocery store chain). They kinda look like Pampers Cruisers, but are better! They are 6.97 for the regular packages. I also like Whisper touch, which is 5.99 for the regular package. Way cheaper than name brand!

Just a quick "hello" from the beach!

Is anyone else losing their hair? Mine has started coming out in massive amounts. I hate this part of post pregnancy...

She is currently on precacid and we are talking about changing to the zantac bc it isnt as effective as it used to be. She is so miserable which is hard to see.
I am sooo hoping I can keep her nursing some until after the baby comes but she is now only asking to nurse a 2-4 times a day and doesnt nurse long, it seems to be more for the cuddles and loves. She has also discovered being put in the jumperoo isnt a death sentence so she is playing for longer periods of time and not wanting me to hold her.I hate when babies grow up

Hello there!

My baby boy is now nearly 8 monthes old...how the time flies....

Lol yes I remember the first few months after he was born (same thing when my daughter was born) I would lose large amounts of hair in the shower. I never had any bald patches like one of my friends did, but it did thin out about. Nothing like the sudden change in hormones to make your body go "OH MY GOD!!"

hehe

As for diapers I like Luvs or Parents choice. I usually go for luvs first unless I am low on cash one month.

Mikey (my nearly 8 month old) has been formula fed from the time he was 2 weeks old. I need to take medication and don't feel comfortable breastfeeding while taking it. I normally give him either the emfamil one that says it's closest to breast milk or gerber Good Start.
