I've also been thinking of a way to separate the eggs from the culls and the eggs from this summer's breeders, without separating the flocks. We'll see how that goes. Not looking to create a bottleneck so early into the landrace, so I'll still be using the culls, I just want to have that distinction

Following Kolovos's POW placing, I'd like to highlight something that might get overlooked, but I find it to be very true to the breed. The two hens in the picture. Their colour helps them blend into the background relatively well. In my opinion, their colour is a massive advantage for survival, especially as young chicks, and as broodies. But even in adult birds who are not brooding, their colour makes them hard to spot, which could give them a few milliseconds to spot a predator before it spots them

I noticed this too, when I first saw that photo of Kolovos, I didn't even see the hens until you brought it up that they were there! I chalked it up to my obsession with Kolovos and his crowing, however after you mentioned the hens, I thought the same thing, they blended in SO well, they may have evolved to be camouflaged for survival! Chickens have had many natural attributes bred out if them, wild birds, hens especially are genetically designed to blend into their environment so they can stay hidden on the nest. Your birds may still retain this attribute of camouflage!

That is my belief as well. The Tsouloufati is described as an excellent choice for the people looking to free range. Their keeping conditions in the past would favour camouflage. Village folk would have them free ranging day and night for the summer and late spring months, potentially alongside LGDs. Since this is the season for raising chicks, all the mothers would have to be able to hide I'm the large and diverse properties to brood, and to raise their chicks. These kinds of colourations, ranging from creme, to darker brown, would help them tremendously

Makes total sense! Now that you are talking about all this, your birds definitely don't look like the standard breed or hatchery bird, definitely something heritage and rare. You need to keep the breed alive and pure, continuing this breed!

They are definitely something unique! Not many people are interested in keeping this labdrace alive, or pure. Something i definitely want to keep is the versatility in colour. As long as it blends in, it works

I lot of the heritage breeds are on the critical or endangered list of birds that can disappear forever simply because people are either not keeping them anymore or they are not keeping the breed pure. Definitely do what you can with them. Spread the word on the importance of preservation of the breed too.
