The Old Folks Home

My grandmother used gasoline to get gum out of our hair.

When I was about 12, I had to castrate all the baby pigs because my dad would get nauseous doing so. We poured kerosene in the wound and I never lost a piglet after about 500 pigs. That was the modus operandi in the 1800s and early 1900s in Missouri.

My Dad used pine tar on the wounds when castrating. It was thick and black but it kept the flies off as well as fighting infections.

Welcome to BYC. None of us are empty nesters.

I understand your excitement, even though I already have a small flock I got peep fever this spring and am waiting impatiently for them to arrive at the end of June! I have a lot of preparation to get ready for them,we also are putting up a second coop,so we need to get busy!

Just had 2 different types of moonshine. 1 with cinnaman red hot candy and 1 with apple jolly ranchers. They are both delicious and awful at the same time
