Must have been a REALLY weak door! I bet you didn't forget there was no door and lean on the sheet more than once.

I've thought about this a time or two (mostly in the fall when the kiddie pools are on clearance and practically free), always wondered if it would work -- may just have to give it a whirl next year.I am doing a new gardening method this year and so far I am loving it. My kiddie pool gardens. One has strawberries in dirt with a rain bird auto drip system and the other one I planted tomato's and turnips in grow bags and I have some young trees in a grow bag in a kiddie pool that has a float in it set to 1 & 1/2" of water in the pool with an over flow hole drilled into the pool at 3".
Strawberries I mixed straw and rabbit fertilizer in the strawberry bed.
raised be with lettuce tomatoes, cantaloupe, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, cucumbers
Tomato's with a wire cage around them and the pot in front are potatoes.
It's not a big garden but I am hoping it will produce enough for Dh and I.
This pool has standing water in it 1 1/2" deep. And my plants are loving it.
Quote: In doing some research on raised beds I came across several sites on kiddie pool gardening. One Engineer took kiddie pools, soil and seeds to California and showed low income families how to raise their own food in kiddie pools. Then I found videos on Youtube by Larry Hall and he does them in water and in Walmart re-usable grocery bags with a automatic float. And I joined his page on Face book. The people on there grow everything in Walmart bags and the plants flourish. I had several kiddie pools left over from my turkey. But I did buy them at TSC. Some people are using under bed storage containers or anything they can find to hold a couple inches of water. You will be pleasantly surprised.
That is wonderful. I love the saw horse idea.chicka, I have an aunt that used kiddie pools like that to raise all her herbs in. She made saw horses, put boards across them like tables, and set 3 kiddie pools per table. That way she didn't have to bend over to tend her herb gardens.
Identify the ants and get a bait for them.Anybody know of an effective method of exterminating an outdoor infestation of ants without harming chickens?
