So sorry I am a bit late, busy weekend for "dad'.

Wisher - No words for your day, just a huge hug for you and a small prayer for your son. what a horrible, heartbreaking week he has ahead of him.

Deb (and everyone else in the heat) - Please stay safe!!! I thought it was horrible yesterday with our 90o.
How in the world do you keep your animals alive in that kind of heat? Or yourselves???

I'm wishing everyone a great first "Official" day of summer!!!

Be safe all my peeps!
Shade shade shade is the key.

Horse is fine she dozes in the shade.... and has a 110 gallon water tank to drink from. When I have poultry they seem to do the same things as she does. eat little, nap in the shade drink alot. I used to make mud puddles for the chickens to get their feet wet in.... but they would dry out within aobut half an hour... then the mud would dry out after that.

Next time I will do waifding pools filled with Decomposed granite holespoked in the bottom of the pools and drip irrigation to keep them wet.

Remember this is dry heat... Right now Ihave a sinus head ache. My face is flaking off ..... When I do have to do chores in the heat it gets done before 11 am and after 6 pm

It was 105 day before yesterday 103 yesterday and it will be 103 today. with NO heat index

down in the imperial valley it will be consistently ten degrees warmer and dryer.... if you stop at a rest stop and hopp out to go get a drink the force of the heat knocks you back. Like standing in front of the oven.

Been there, done that. Moved to Vermont!

Yet in San Diego it was 66 degrees last night at bed time... BIG difference between Medeterranian climate and real desert... Same goes for My place. WE are only a few degrees warmer but the spread between night and day is that much.

AC goes off in the middle evening and doesnt come back on till morning.

The high in Woodland was 95 yesterday and it was still 82 at 9. We get a breeze that come up the Delta sometimes in the Summer but not yesterday. The North wind was blowing the cool air out to the Pacific.

I recall being out at the river (*) in the summer many years ago. It "cooled" down to mid 90s overnight. NOT real comfortable

* For those non local/native to Southern California (aka SC, not to be confused with the University of California, Berkeley or South Carolina) "the river" is the Colorado River.

Berkeley is UCB. I work at UCD (Davis), which used to be the Farm for UCB. It is now a top Public University. There is a USC, University of Southern California but it is not one of the nine University of California Campuses....http://universityofcalifornia.edu/uc-system/parts-of-uc

Here the River is either the Sacramento or American river. On the coast it is the Russian River.

Of course some of our Rivers are more like creeks....
