Honestly I do not have a big rodent problem knock on wood seem to have a few mice the guys keep finding the cats get them then leave them dead for us to find, but see we keep our garbage in the brick pump house go once
a month recycle is free at the dump they charge 12.00 a ton for garbage and that is a minimum charge or 120.00 a month for the garbage company

our moles the dogs dig up kill then leave for us also

That feeder looks great! How do you keep rats or other rodents out of it?

When I used a standard metal hanging feeder rodents would hop in, eat, and hop out.

With this feeder they have to enter a hole, eat, and then jump back out.... I have never seen them try. It would be much to easy for a chicken to eat them before the rodent hopped back out.

If you notice, you can't even see the feed from the outside...the pipes are too long.

I have cats myself one is an inside/outside cat she bearings me mice, moles, and the occasional squirrel. Now in the run I have seen one mouse in there and it was a free for all rugby match was on and the mouse was the ball. And snake I saw pieces of it as the hens lit up on it! And the squirrels don't even chance going into the run

I have mice. Ticks me off..ya hear..ticks me off. Haven't seen anything larger..oh, and those sparrows!

I've caught so many mice this winter. Found a trick. I see a hole that looks like they are using, or a new one, and I get a gallon of water and pour it down the hole. Works! They come out.. Then what? They run every where, around me..at first I let out an almost scream. :D I kept doing this, every morning and night. I know I had to have gotten some..babies.
Couldn't set traps in this run. My littles are in there. I finally stopped seeing them. I did catch a few in my one trap that doesn't let them out. It got old and they got so they could squeeze out of it..it wouldn't shut on one side all the way.
I just set other mouse traps with cheese or peanut butter on them. Have caught quite a few that way. It seems never ending. Those sticky traps are worthless.
I would so use our pellet gun on those sparrows if we didn't live in a neighborhood. This is a very nice/strong pellet gun! When shot, it sounds like a 22.

Mice are easier to control than rats with a liquid poison. Mice drink water every day while rats only drink once a week. Both do not have an avoidance behavior for water so it works much better than food baits.

Make sure that the water is not in a place that other animals can get to.

Good morning everyone. I'm getting better at navigation here so I thought I'd share some photos of my flock. :cd
