I have to say I thoroughly enjoy this thread as well. In fact it is the only thread I follow on BYC (well except for Linda's when she actually POSTS on it
) any more. I used to try to help out with questions too but when the format changed, I didn't see the questions any more. I am sure they are here somewhere but now that they aren't on the "front page" I haven't found them. I completely respect people breeding for and teaching people how to maintain breeds to SOP. Most of those people are very nice and willing to share their knowledge. I know there are some people who are sensitive to finding out what they have is not to SOP or even pure bred. I also know there are people more than willing to "jump on" and criticize a newbie. Glad that none of that happens here and probably the main reason why I don't go to any of the heritage breed pages. Life is too short to deal with "raging" opinions. I do like the fact that we talk about just about anything (well anything "allowed" by BYC
) and can get silly sometimes. That is why I like coming to the thread. I am very happy Wisher started it and it carries on. BTW, I forget who is thinking about the BR turkeys but yes the eggs taste very close to chicken eggs like SCG said. The birds are very friendly (if not a tad but stupid) and get to a good eating size. Home grown turkey is about the best turkey you will ever eat.
