I also keep mine is with the bantam chicks, but had to kick them out to the teenage grow out pen after they started squishing the bantys. They are similar sized and seem to be holding their own, but definitely seem to prefer hiding under the heating pad more than the silkies
Thats funny, mine were double the silkie sizes, but still trying to squeeze UNDER THEM! 🤣

I personally think they are a little delicate as chicks.. plus the vaulted skulls are actually soft. So one good peck can kill them or give them brain damage. I kept my LF polish chicks with my bantam chicks. They outgrew the bantams quickly, but temperament, they are similar.
I too kept mine with the bantams! They did outgrow them but got along really well with them. I had to keep the d’Uccles inside but moved them out at 4 weeks (it’s in the 90s during the day already) with my 6 week old Ameraucanas and the broody Silkie mommas. Believe it or not, my Ameraucanas are more scared of the baby Polish and they’re twice their size 😆 I wouldn’t put them with any of my large fowl chicks or adults other than my Ameraucanas and adult d’Uccles and silkies.

I'm not sure how to separate them. They're in a large dog crate. Maybe if I bought another lamp and put them in a tub? But then there would only be two. Ideas?
What are the breeds and what are the ages again? If they’ve been together, I’d just watch them and see how it goes. They’d be better off with more chicks for warmth and development, but if the chicks are mean to them they’re better off as a twosome.

This is Sergio... named after one of our students. We hatched at school with some high school kids and I picked up a pair of polish so they could see some other birds and to diversify my flock. Chicken Sergio is my helpful one

There are 18 chicks. 2 silver laced wyandottes, 2 cuckoo Marans, 2 buff Orpingtons, 2 EEs, 1 sapphire gem, two hatchery choice rare breeds that are huge and look to be brahmas, and two salmon favorelles, and 2 Bielefelders.

So lots of big chicks. They're just over a week old. The one doesn't seem to be doing so hot but somehow is still kicking. She has a full crop again so that's good. There for a bit I was worried for her but I think one stepped on her and hurt her leg. She was also dealing with pasty butt. I gave them scrambled egg yesterday and wow did the little "less lively one" perk up and go nuts.

Well you are probably okay with those breeds (they tend to be on the docile side), but I’d just keep an eye on them and if you see any serious mean pecking (not just play silliness) you might consider isolating. But if they’re going to be all part of the flock together, having them all together is best. This way they grow up accepting them and their silly hairdos! 😍 I raised Silkie chicks with Wyandottes and Orpingtons and they are now to bossy little hens that intimidate all the big chickens twice their size 😍 Your flock is going to be beautiful!

Thank you!! She's still alive but she doesn't seem to be thriving. She sleeps a lot. At least the other gets up and walks around a good bit. I might try to isolate both of them so they can have a scrambled egg treat.

So here she is. She loves scrambled eggs, but still doesn't seem to be thriving. They also picked most of the down off her butt. Should I try to "paint" her skin with something to protect her/change the color to darker? She isn't bloody or anything. (You can see in picture she has a full crop at least!)

Should I be worried that she's not thriving or is this just her and she's a chill little chick. Only time she has energy is when I add scrambled eggs. I have to put her and her buddy in a box so they don't get trampled. Her buddy got out of the shoe box but she couldn't so I had to tip it for her (I walked away for too long I guess)
