Well, I'd like to see him again in two or three months. I'm not familiar with the variety's growth curve. I know we cannot judge our young males until they're at least 8 or 9 months old and often they don't finish until they're blowing out the candle on the first birthday cake. LOL

Just curious how many of y'all actually show your birds.

I have been to a few poultry shows in my area. But my problem is most of the shows in my neck of the woods are bantam shows and I'm just not into bantams. The Tennessee Valley show in Knoxville and the Newnan, Georgia Poultry Show are two shows I definitely plan to start attending and entering birds in. Both of these shows are over 3 hours drive one way from my house. But it will be worth it. :)

Kenny

I've been to quite a few myself, but still haven't been brave enough to show mine. I've bred Columbian Rocks now for 4 yrs and I think I'm going to take the plunge and let me youngest enter a pullet in the Newnan show in February....more than anything just to get some exposure to this color variety in the Plymouth Rock breed.. I don't have high hopes, but they are a LOT better than they were when I started, so at least I know from where I've come

I got your voicemail and will try to call you sometime tomorrow

Newnan is a LONG LONG Drive from here. I am thinking it was 7 hours.....it is like 2 hours or more SOUTH of Atlanta.... almost to the Florida line. It is a good show. I had a cranky 3 year old and husband and we left early so I didn't get to see the winners. I would like to go back now that I know a lot more about chickens.
