I completely missed this thread, I'm so happy to see another silkie thread, the old ones really seem to have slowed down!
I'm loving all the beautiful silkies and adorable chicks posted so far!
Here's my favorite colored silkie girl. She's broody right now. It's her first time and she's terrible at it. Unlike the other broodies she just wants to sit in the middle of the coop. She could have an egg right next to her but insists on sitting on nothing 95% of the time.
She's also top hen and a bit of a brat.

Ughhhh dont even get me started on first time silkie mums!!! I had two of my silkie hens go broody at the same time and they would shuffle around so much that they would dig a trench in their nest, causing all the heat to be lost. So instead of having the eggs at 37°c they were at around the early 20sThank you!
It's so funny watching the first time broodies. Most of them aren't great at it but she's got to be my worst.![]()
