the silkie slickers

They’re all lovely they’ll do great for you!

I know nothing about showing Marans but that cockerel is super pretty! 😍

Here’s my routine for washing for a show:

Ahhh I think that we have roughly the same routine with the silkies! Slightly different with the marans but won't bore you with that!

Thank you, yes he is lovely but can be damn violent towards me at times and then really calm and sweet at other?! He knows he can get away with it thought because I have had him from an egg and love him to bits, plus he is a great showing and breeding birdie! Not looking his best in the photo because he is usually much more stocky but he sort of deflated himself and went dead skinny right before I took the photo. 🙄🤣

I completely missed this thread, I'm so happy to see another silkie thread, the old ones really seem to have slowed down!

I'm loving all the beautiful silkies and adorable chicks posted so far! :love

Here's my favorite colored silkie girl. She's broody right now. It's her first time and she's terrible at it. Unlike the other broodies she just wants to sit in the middle of the coop. She could have an egg right next to her but insists on sitting on nothing 95% of the time.

She's also top hen and a bit of a brat.

She’s gorgeous! 🥰

She’s a stubborn broody and will do what she wants it seems 😂

Thank you! :)

It's so funny watching the first time broodies. Most of them aren't great at it but she's got to be my worst.
Ughhhh dont even get me started on first time silkie mums!!! I had two of my silkie hens go broody at the same time and they would shuffle around so much that they would dig a trench in their nest, causing all the heat to be lost. So instead of having the eggs at 37°c they were at around the early 20s 🙄🙄🙄🙄.
