Thank you! I'll remember this info!Hi, whenever I have a chick with pasty butt I use a q-tip and run it under warmer water and try to clear the vent. If its really stuck, I use small scissors to remove the poopy feathers which I feel is safer since you are not pulling at the feathers rather you are trimming them. After the vent is clear, I put a thin coat of Vaseline on the chicks vent area so the feces can smoothly come out. An additional measure I do is also give the chicks SAV-A-CHICK Vitamin solution in their water. In general if you have a chick with pasty butt offer it some sort of electrolyte.
