the silkie slickers

Pics
Hi, whenever I have a chick with pasty butt I use a q-tip and run it under warmer water and try to clear the vent. If its really stuck, I use small scissors to remove the poopy feathers which I feel is safer since you are not pulling at the feathers rather you are trimming them. After the vent is clear, I put a thin coat of Vaseline on the chicks vent area so the feces can smoothly come out. An additional measure I do is also give the chicks SAV-A-CHICK Vitamin solution in their water. In general if you have a chick with pasty butt offer it some sort of electrolyte. Hoped this helps and good luck!
Thank you! I'll remember this info!

I've heard about that before! That's why I want a couple more silkies. I may even get a couple to hatch quail eggs when they go broody.
Yes, me too! I'm going way ahead of my self, but I want my silkies to try hatching other kinds of poultry eggs. Anybody else also have the problem of counting their chicks before they hatch?:lau

I had one hatch a muscovy. She and 2 ducks were all sitting on the same clutch and wish momma was still alive so she could hatch all these different kinds of poultry for me but maybe one of the new ones may be a good broody too.

Hope someone can help me here. What can I give my one silkie to calm down a bit? She started to get aggressive when broody by climbing on top my other hen and pecking her head. The other hen then screams. She pecked some feathers out her head and behind her eye it was swollen a bit and red, but it looks better now. I had to separate them now.
