The Sizzle Thread!

When can you tell if they will have silkie feathers instead of regular feathers?
As soon as the wing feathers come in. The feathers will look 'shredded' unlike normal chick feathers.

(this isn't a silkie/sizzle, but it gives you an idea of regular feathers)

Frizzles, of course, will have curled up feathers coming in.

Great photo of silkie chick thanks. This may be the longest week ever lol...what about if it is going to be a frizzled silkie? Just a flip or curl added to shredded silkie feathers? I am not sure what I will do if I have frizzled silkies or how they would contribute to my goal of more cutie sizzles.

These birds are so unusual and adorable. I was thinking about getting silkies it since I saw the pictures of these birds I decided to ask the form if they knew of a reputable breeder in or around Florida. How do you think these birds would get along with Orpington's.

Sizzles are silkies. :p They just cross them with frizzle Cochins then back to silkies. Sweet and beautiful. My silkies and sizzles are in with all my LF. Somewhere around 50 out there. Two large coops, large run but they free range all day as long as hawks aren't around. I don't know how far "country" <<her BYC user name, ships but that's where I got my birds and she has a great reputation. Mine are super sweet and we actually like the smooths over the curly sizzles. Some might know of someone closer, or you can get eggs from about anywhere.
