The Sizzle Thread!

Help with a few chicks? These came from sizzle hens and so you know the mix that could be here!

Chick #1 Just Silkie?

Chick #2 Smooth Sizzle? (Has 5 toes and black skin and crest)

Chick #3 Just Silkie or can I hope for frizzle silkie at least? LOL

Yup, there are others but just asking about these three for now. Not sure others have enough feathering to even guess at yet! LOL

#1 looks to have regular feathers to me. Hard to tell in a pic though. Maybe small ones that'll start flipping over?

I'm upset one of my black 6 wk old sizzles is turning brown. It's weird it's just on its chest. Is is normal for them to change color this far along. I am upset cuz I wanted black and the lady said that it would be black but now it's turning brown.
I understand your frustration. I was sold this one as a BLUE about 12 weeks ago.

I wish the breeder had told me there was the possibility of partridge coloring, based on the parental pair. I freaked out when I started seeing red/brown feathers in her neck, shoulders, and chest.
I'm not trying to breed any colors in particular, so her coloring is inconsequential. She's healthy and for a urban farmer, that's enough for me.

I love that color! Sorry it's not what you were planning for tho. But I do think "she" looks suspiciously like a he  hope I'm wrong

very pretty boy/girls.
looks like its plenty old enough for you to tell sex is there any pointy feathers on the neck, crest, or base of the tail. if so you have a boy.
if the feathers look blunt and rounded in those areas you have a girl but do try to ruffle the feather in those areas to see the new feathers coming in they are the ones that will tell you boy or girl.
good luck :)

I dunno, in partridges the males usually get that very vivid reddish/gold your bird has. I also see some wattles, but that could just be because its not heavily bearded.
Its very pretty! :fl its a girl!

Here's a cockerel I kept back for breeding. I think he's about 5 months old now. I'm hoping his tail comes up and I need to work on beards (luckily my Silkie hens are heavily bearded), but other than that I think he'll help me make some good progress on my project

He's got a pretty nice crest, black skin and all his toes.
