The Sizzle Thread!

Hi guys, I've been breeding frizzles and sizzles for a while. In my breeding program I use double frizzles / frazzle with silkies. I'm in Australia and don't get extreme cold so my frazzle seem to be happy and healthy. I like doing it this way because it produces 100% sizzles for selling. I don't believe that frizzles are sickly as some say but that's my opinion.

Here is a picture of one of my Frazzles .

I haven't been on BYC in a while, but I'm excited to be back! My family and I packed up and moved from Va to Tn. I got to bring 5 of my birds with me. I kept 4 of my B/B/S Silkies and 1 Sizzle pullet. I'm pretty sure my Sizzle has just started or is about to start laying. I can't wait to see what my next generation of chicks will look like! I'll pair her with my black Silkie rooster (she's also black).

Anyway, everyone's birds are beautiful!

Welcome back and congrats on the move!

Sizzles Fly! Chicken Nugget is only 1 week and it's airborn up to 6 inches. It's flying around the bottom of the bath tub. We weren't quite expecting this. Wow! We don't mind, we've closed the toilet seat so it doesn't accidentally fly out of the tub and end up in there and drown.
Do all sizzles fly? Fredo, a smooth sizzle baby and the Beak A Poo, the Silkie, have not tried to fly.
Any advice? Like, do they stop flying when they get bigger?

They CAN fly, but they tend to rather stay grounded as they get older.

I've never been able to sex day old chicks (except sexlinks and other very obvious breeds). My Sizzles were MUCH easier to sex than my Silkies, but a couple still fooled me.

So, if you're real good at vent sexing, go for it! If you're not, you can send off for DNA testing. Or, wait it out like just about everyone else

Good luck!

Thanks PaintedFeathers!

We just bought a 48 acre farm! Coming from a 3 acre lot in a subdivision, its been a huge change for everyone. I have a huge coop now (so excited about that), it looks really empty with my 5 little chickens inside! I can't wait to fill it up!!!
