Hatchabatch app says March 10th, but I think it will be more like 11-12th.

Maybe when I get a few hatches under my belt, and see what quality of birds I'm getting, I'll increase their value a little. Of course if you really insist on paying $10 a chick, I'll oblige.

egg laying questions. I have a girl who is 19 weeks old. She is a Speckled Sussex/ White leghorn. When will she start laying? I put a nesting box in with her. She's been checking it out. I was thinking of adding some golf balls to the box. She is currently inside as she is one of the chicks I hatched and their coop wont be dont for another 2 weeks. She and the roosters will sing the egg song...so thinking she may be close? I can't remember when my leghorns or speckled Sussex started laying. I know the SS was one of the last ones to lay though.

Not sure if anyone remembers Lucky or not. the chick the made it from his hatch only because i removed him from the incubator the night before the incubator temps went to 117 and killed all the other eggs. But he is a big boy now. crowing, mating, and beautiful. He is result of Speckled Sussex rooster over a RSL Hen He found his forever home where he will have his own 12 hens. I couldn keep him in with the silkies. He was just too big for them.

I'd say your girl is ready to lay and will be any day. ( Most breeds lay withing 18-20)

Certainly my friends white leghorns layed at 18 weeks. And not sure about ss?
