Hi,
You are looking for foundation trio? What color? Make sure to tell the breeder you are seeking a "foundation" trio. Birds from their strain that are loosely enough related that they can be breed to each other for a linebreeding program. It des make a difference. Try looking at the breeder directory of the American Sussex Association website. Also try the State thread for your State here at BYC. Maybe called "Wisconsin Unite " ? It is always good to start with the very best quality you can. , esp. in poultry where there are so many sex linked genes. And even more, in a tricolored variety like Speckled Sussex.
If you want Speckled and top quality, then you should be looking for birds descended from the 3 top strains. Gary Overton (OH); Tony Albritton (ID) and Walt Reichert (KY) for large fowl.
For bantams, Gary Overton )OH) , paintedfeathers farm (OH), Skytop (PA), Rob Mongold )OH?), and folk who have birds very closely descended from these sources.
Best,
Karen

My Grace Coolidge and Jaci Kennedy are 19 wks. And laying an egg a day since the 19th when they started. Our Golden Compines, Florence Harding and Ida McKinley are giving nice white eggs about same size as Sussex' hen. But every 3rd day. They started at 18 wks of age also.
