The Sussex thread!

Pics
Hi Sussex folks! I added my first Speckled chicks to the flock back in April and they have quickly become my favs. Right now we have two cockerels and two pullets who will hopefully be laying soon. They'll be going into a breeding pen in a month or two so I'm interested to learn more about the standard and common faults!

What lines are these birds? Standard or Bantam?

Beautiful! :)

Thanks! Standard. They came from Bargain. (

Hi and thanks Bargain!) I haven't read through the entire thread but I've seen some references to difficulties with the SOP and I haven't been able to locate the standard on the web. Anyone know where I can find it?

Here's one of the two pullets. She has far more white than the other.

I can't type out all the standard (too much), but I can tell you from your pictures in comparison to the pictures in the SOP .....

Your roo has wayyyyyy to much white on him. Maybe you can find a picture of the picture somewhere? have you checked the Sussex Club site?

My other cockerel doesn't have NEARLY the amount of white as this guy. His hackles and saddle are almost entirely mahogany. Same goes with the pullet, one has a ton of white (the one pictured) and the other has MUCH less. I had a suspicion it was too much white on these two but I can't seem to find the standard online... I'm assuming this is something you can order from the APA? Where are you looking at the standard and pics?
