Thanks Fluffy.I remember reading about their beautiful bond on your article. Made me cry too![]()
Thanks Fluffy. Our birds are very sensitive and emotional if we only observe them together.
They look so happy in that photo.I had a hen do that (Tillie) after her sister died. (Molly)These two were attached at the hip all their lives, slept together, bathed together, laid eggs at the same time in the same box, talked to each other ALL day long. After Molly died, Tillie would wait in the run after dark crying these whines in the dark run looking for Molly, made me cry. Tillie had panic attacks when I turned out the lights at night without Molly next to her. Tillie stopped eating, stopped talking, stopped laying, refused to get off the roost bar... I though she might completely pine away. She did pull out of it, but it took Tillie 3 months to let her sister go. It was very heartbreaking to watch.

Some birds get SO attached and they go through a long mourning period, it's a wonder they survive. Many people don't believe birds mourn but they do! Parrots are really sensitive, I'm glad your Inca is ok! ❤They look so happy in that photo. It’s great to hear that Tillie was able to cope with Mollys loss. Thank you for sharing their story. I wish Penguin had been able to find her own way. I’ve watched a few of my birds go through the same thing before this time, but they were fortunately able to move on. The most recent example was Inca (female budgie) losing her longtime mate (King). I thought I was going to lose her, until I placed her in with her 2 youngest babies. After a few weeks, she was a happy budgie again.

Thank you! She’s quite happy with the babies. They were never far-separated to begin with (kept in a twin cage right next to hers), so I think that made the move from their cage to hers easier. Some birds get SO attached and they go through a long mourning period, it's a wonder they survive.
