This is a great thread. I've seen so many people get confused about the difference between EEs and Ameraucanas.
Here are my two EEs. They are 4 months old, so I don't know what color egg my pullet lays yet.

EE pullet, Cheeks,

EE cockerel, Bunny.

This information is SLIGHTLY inaccurate. I'd just like the point out than many purebred wheaten, especially Blue/Splash wheaten, ameraucanas look like the first picture.
Second, some shades of aqua/green ARE recognized by the APA and both major USA breeder clubs as Ameraucana colors for eggs.

They do look very similar, but there are definitely subtle differences. The EE has white hackle feathers, while her body is a light buff color. The wheaten sort of have the opposite. The EE probably has a genotype similar to dominant white buff columbian, not wheaten. Though it does show that EEs and ameraucanas can be pretty hard to tell apart sometimes.

Thank you. You are however incorrect in saying that the first pic is a hen of the Wheaten color. There are many differences between her and a true wheaten.
All pics of eggs from pure Ameraucana have been a sweet frosty blue, but I understand that it may vary a small amount.

He's incredibly friendly. You can just scoop him up and hug him for ages. When he's being held, he'll lay his head on your arm and close his eyes.

I suspected as much but wasn't sure. How can you tell? We have three more that are a couple weeks younger that I'd like to try to sex as well.
