No huge faults or even big faults. If I were judging him I would give him 94-96 pts. Quite a nice rooster, he would show very well.

Okay Proud Grandmother rights from Granny Nanny!!!! I've just confirmed with the mamma that's one of our younguns. Sure is nice looking! Yeah!

Woohoooo! I just got my first pullet egg from my Lensters chicks today!!

It was under the roost and broken.

But it was definitely one of the youngsters' eggs. I wasn't expecting eggs from them for at least another month, so I'm pretty excited.

When she gets things ironed out a little, I will have to post a pic or two.

I think that my 5 mos old pullet is going to start early...she has been scratching around in a nest box now for about 3 weeks. I caught her in there again yesterday and she gives me this look......."Get outta here lady...geesh...bawk bawk bawk" and her comb was still small a couple weeks ago and I swear over night it has grown and turned red. I definitely think that she is up to something.

I wanted to share some pics while I can. Had to rent a laptop for a short time.

One of the girls:

The future head roo:

I have another (older) roo that has been the lead guy- but he has too much red in his chest. Almost like lacing. Also- I've been getting tons of male chicks to hatch. They are so strange- don't get the dark feathers in the chest until very late. They look like girls except the big comb gives them away. So- I think it's time for a changing of the guard. I guess the other guy will get his own coop with the EEs and I'll see if I can hatch less males. Color won't matter though- it's all about the eggs!

I sent some wellie eggs to LA in a swap- and I'd love to know what his percentages of M to F were- but I never heard back.

Hey HappyMtn-the 2 Welsummer babies that hatched from the eggs you sent are doing good-not sure what we have yet but they will be 3 weeks old thursday. They like to try and wash their feet in the waterer!

Aww- silly chickens! I hope there are some girls in your hatch- and if you end up with a roo (ameraucana or wellie) you can make olive eggers

Both breeds have proven to be very gentle roosters for us- no worries about the little ones getting jumped

Keep me posted on what sex they end up- trying to figure out if my roo is throwing mostly boys. The last 3 I hatched were 2 girls & 1 boy- so that's an improvement!

I know I am late, but better then never... Here are pictures of my Estes Welsummers. They were hatched March 7th-ish. So they were about 8 weeks old in these pics.

Hey there, I'm a newby chicken mom with 2 welsummers, 2 silver laced wyandottes, a barnevelder, and a red sex link. My chicks are over 6 weeks old now, but here they are in photos at about 2 weeks. Both of mine have very different and distinctive personalities already. Petunia is a sweety. She never fusses to be picked up and eats grasshoppers right out of my hand. Her sister's name is Pansy. Pansy is really not a people-chicken yet. I'm working on her. I keep trying to tempt her with goodies, but she's going to take some patience. I think those wyandottes are a bad influence. Chickens today...
