There are different shades of feathering that can come in. They will lose all these feathers anyway when they go through their juvenile molt at around 13 weeks. It may change when they mature more.

Hi, new here. Just got 5 mid June hatch pullets. My question is when do Welsummers start to lay? Had hens as a kid, but that was a long time ago.

Welcome! Mine usually lay right around the 24 weeks. (never before that) But I still have a stubborn one holding out on me at 31 1/2 weeks.

What size eggs do bantam Wellies lay? Ounces are much for helpful than descriptions, unless solid comparisions can be made. Tailfeather's golden duckwings are lovely. I'm wondering if they compare in size, weight, and eggs to the partridge? Is there any reason, other than obvious size vulnerability, a bantam Wellie can't forage?
