I usually spread some crumbles around on the pads for the first day or two until they figure out what food is and where the feeder is. Their instinct is to peck at specks on the ground. Its important they start eating right away.

I spread some around. And put some under the MHP...they were chirping like mad and trying to eat. They're quiet now underneath.
