Things you wish you could say

Oh, I've certainly never heard that.

Researching now and it seems the Danios were never illegal, but other Glofish were. The ban was officially lifted for all patented Glofish in January of 2015.

We still can't have ferrets, gerbils, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, or axolotls, though. (Among other things.)

Edit: And the ban wasn't due to dangers of toxicity, instead it was basically the same as all of California's other bans — they were afraid of feral populations being established.

Why it took the state government 12 years to realize that glow-in-the-dark fish are incredibly easy prey and, given they're all tropical species, wouldn't survive in California's climate? We'll never know. 😒
