This is why we don't trade outside of our personally known group!!!

Just giving my 6 cents on a dollar.

That's 7 and 1/2 % to the federal goverment and whatever else to the State and local taxes. Should be about 15% altogether.

I am assuming your talking sales tax right? Well thats pretty cheap to our 9.75%. Then land taxes are sky high and just went up again. So ours I am guessing your are talking about the percentage of taxes is alot higher than 15%.

The average Americian pays about 48% of thier income in total taxes. Federal income, state income, local income, SS, Medicare, Sales, Property, auto registaration, alcohol, gasoline, capital gains, gift, hotel, etc, etc.....

When a politician says we pay less income tax than most Europeans, don't be fooled. They also pay a VAT tax of 12%-20% on all goods consumed at every level (every step in the manufacturing and sales process as well). Most Europeans pay close to 70% and don't even realize it.

Just say NO to the VAT tax!

I’m so surprised at the response to this posting.

Taxing people is a lot like making frog soup. If you throw the frog into a pot of boiling water he will jump out fast, but if you throw him into a pot of tepid water he will stay and enjoy. By slowly increasing the fire under the pot you will get frog soup. If taxes were collected in one lump sum we would revolt, but when collected a bit at a time (under different names) the government has plenty of "frog soup" to feast on.

Grand Rapids, Michigan tried to get a 'small' street light ‘fee’ (tax in sheep’s clothing) with promises of lowering the water bills an equal amount. The voters said (with their NO vote) just take the money for the street lights out of the water bills instead of creating another tax--which everybody knew they would double/triple in very short order to re-cop their ‘imagined’ loss of revenues.

But to the original topic—we as individuals must be very dutiful in our animal treatment/care, to offer only top notch safe products for the publics’ consumption. This will be our salvations when it comes down to a confrontation with the unjust laws set forth in the name of “public safety”. Maybe by banding together to forming a National non-profit fund to hire lawyers to advise/fight in the courts on our behalf; also, hire a spokesperson to advertise on TV and radio with informative commercials in defensive of our rights in these matters.

Just a thought.

I'm actually in favor of that one. Agribusiness should not get a free pass to pollute. This reg is aimed mostly at factory farms.

If they do not specifically exempt small farms, small farms will be regulated as well, no matter what the "intention" is. If you give the government the power to regulate "the other guy", you are giving them the power to regulate YOU.

How is anyone supposed to farm without creating dust? Spray precious and valuable water down before driving a tractor over a field? What about all the dust kicked up by wind and tornados?

Exactly! There is always someone out there who is going to consider you "the other guy"
