Those who need help in sexing peafowl

Like I said before George has raised hundreds of peafowl. In short - a few more than you, meaning he knows how to sex peafowl.

I know people that have raised way more peafowl than me and they don't know how to sex them until 7 to 9 months old.

I live in Idaho. The reason why McMurray doesn't do that because it's bad for business. I almost bought peafowl from someone in Idaho as well but they have all their peafowl together so it would be gambling with what you get. The person I bought Thor and Calypso kept very good records. He rotates his male with his females color coats the eggs to the peahen. His parents do this for a living. If someone is a good animal breeder they would keep very accurate records for business. Who is Connerhills? What is so special about Connerhills? Photos by me and AnimalsRmyLife.
Thor's wing.

Nice looking hens.

I don't think there's an experienced breeder on the planet that can't sex them until that age, lol, except for maybe a white one, but we're talking about IB, Pieds and Spaldings, right? Lol... :D heck, I'm a novice and correctly sexed all of 40 of mine when they were *much* younger.

That came out wrong... What I mean is any experienced breeder can sex them well before 7-9 months of age.

Thor and Calypso are IB Pieds. NOT SPALDING PEAFOWL! There is no Spalding blood at all. Calypso's speckled breast is beginning to go away. Thor is getting more barring. Last time I checked peahens don't get more and more barring the older and closer they get to the 7 to 9 month old mark. Tomorrow Thor will be 6 months old.

I just realized that this person thinks she is a he, well if she had an operation then she could be a he LMFAO!

Birdrain, the person might have kept good records and might have "rotated" his males and color coated the eggs but that does not mean Thor is a he. If this person has in fact raised peas for 30 years he/she SHOULD know how to tell a boy from a girl. Esp if he has been raising the same colors all those years. I can tell when my birds hatch out that the light brown ones are male and the dark brown ones are female cause I hatched so many of them. Your male WILL have baring on the wings and females will not. You can ask the breeder and if he tells you that Thor is male I will call him a LIAR and he should NOT be breeding peafowl - shame on him/her.

Connerhills is one of the best breeders that still comes to the forums to help people who are in and or want to get into peafowl. The birds you have are common peafowl and almost everyone one this forum can sex them. IB is the color everyone here started with so why argue and say that she is a he? I would suggest not buying chicks from a hatchery, but from a breeder who does infact keep good records and will STAND by the birds they sell. If I sold you those chicks stating they are a male and a female and they turned out to be 2 hens I would give you a male for my mistake, ask the breeder if he would do the same? If he says yes then pick out your male cause I will pay for DNA sexing on those hens to prove him wrong.

The DNA testing comes back again. If Thor turned out to be a female I would have to wait a year. I didn't just pick Thor and Calypso for breeding purposes only but also for an FFA project. When they are so old they could careless who I am and not want to work with me. I started out with IB as well. Barring can be an easy way to sex but it's not always accurate. I've had a male peachick go from no barring to barring. When Thor was 5 weeks old he told me was pretty sure Thor and the other male with Thor were males. At first he told me that those were the older ones and I asked if he had younger ones and he showed me a horse tank full of peachicks, whites, IB, and one IB Pied. That was Calypso.
