Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

A few minutes after my post I got a call from the post office. I got my 2 goslings and 14 packing peanuts, all healthy and doing good. I'll post pics in a little bit!

How exciting!

What are the chickens, If I've read, I've forgotten!

The ducks are my call ducks that hatched earlier this week. They aren't quite sure what to think of the new arrivals. My goslings are tufted roman. I'm not sure what the packing peanut chicks are, production red roos I think. I'm going to keep the peanuts for a week maybe for the girls to have chicks to play with, then hopefully give them away on craigslist.

I know what you mean! I still keep adding on Smaller incubators, instead of biting the bullet and getting plans to make a big one. I have given them an entire room, just for the purpose of incubating, hatching, and keeping them the first week or two inside (where I can watch them, and keep our nosy kitties away!)

I actually have a spare bathroom set aside for my 2 bators (and swimming time for babies) and a spare bedroom converted into my brooder room... but they will get to stay inside for at least 30 days here.

Mine have their own room for incubating/brooding too. They do have to share it with my plants and seedlings though, it's the only safe spot away from my kids, lol. And during spring/summer my incubating and brooding is mostly done outside by my silkies.

Question: How old do the goslings need to be before they can handle winter conditions? It is currently 15 degrees with a blanket of snow outside.
