Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Wish I lived as close as you two! I would love to go out & do coffee or margaritas

No kidding JZ. That would be awesome!

She knows how to get in. They have one like that and a bigger one that she got in and out of ok. She just hasn't wanted to swim for awhile now, which is why I gave up filling mine up. She is a wuss and doesn't want to get cold I think, lol. Much more fun to dig holes in the mud.

I think she got in the little fish pond we have, but not for long. She's was a little wet, but I had just checked on them 10 minutes before and she was dry... so it was probably a spit bath.
She does love the mud! I emptied the pool and ya know how they love to go "rootin" in that standing water. She's all about that.

And now they're hiding because it's a hawk fest right now out there.

(She's laying by the drakey boy.)

I have never had a boy duckling so I couldn't say for sure since I don't know what they sound like, but I would think so. My girls started making a funny sound at the end of their peeps at a few weeks, and it turned into full blown quacking by a month.
My calls don't peep. They make no sounds. I am hoping I simply have the quietest calls ever and that they aren't all boys. I'm kind of worried though, and they are still only the size of day old normal ducks so I am scared to try to vent sex them. I don't want 5 boys though. At least one girl and I'll be happy, 2 and I'll be thrilled, lol.

when mine were babies mine were all 4 loud (2 boys 2 girls)
so i dont think theres a connection at that age

I'm glad she is settling in well and has already made friends. I wish it would warm up a little bit and the babies would finish feathering in so I could fill up a pool for them. They won't even come out of the coop right now though. I had everyone shut in the coop/run for a few days so babies would know where home is, but I opened the gates to their yard and our yard today so everyone could come out. Ducklings are having none of that though, which is ok with me. At least they aren't hawk bait in there since the runs covered.

Ok EVERBODY'S- Here's my lav chick. He's a loud little thing. And all alone. :( Although he's in my daughters lap right now, so being alone might work in his favor.

Look at the size difference! And no they're not together. This was just for a sec.

Ok good. There's still hope for a few girls then.
