Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Speaking of colored ancona eggs... the ones I got today were 9 pinkish and 3 greyish. The stock is mostly b/w, but they do have a couple blues and chocolates. I'll be curious to note if colors hatch out of the grey eggs.

i went to help it and it's beak was not at the top and it was struggling, it was faced the wrong way and i helped it out but then the shell slipped a bit and it tore the sack at it's belly i put a compress to stop it and its head twitched from side to side and it just layed there it bleed the amount of a decent kids nosebleed, so i wrapped it in a medical sponge and layed it in the bator but i think it may be dead

Aurora did the same for me (6 blue & 6 white) on the premium priced eggs. I got less blue eggs in my "take a chance" set, but I still have a few blues I'm hoping will develop.

The ones I got today are from Thistle Down Farm in California. I have wanted to blend stock from Aurora and Thistle Down's farm from the beginning of this crazy idea to build my own breeding flock.

And may I add... Thistle Down takes the GRAND PRIZE for packaging. The eggs were wrapped individually in gauze inside egg cartons which were taped so eggs shipped upright. Then they were in a small box within a bigger box, both packed with a ton of cushioning.

bakin, don't freak out. It may be ok. If it was facing the wrong way, you would probably have to hatch it anyway. Is it all the way out of the shell?? If so, leave it alone for now and see what happens. In the meantime, check your other eggs. Candle the air cell and look for the beak before chipping away at shells. Did you dampen the medical sponge?
