Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Hello, Uno! Welcome to the world little sweetie!
love.gif

thank you,.
i will have better pics of him in the am but tonight he is tuckered out.
seing as how he hatched pretty fast .
the way i figure it he went from ext pip to completly hatached in 4 hours.

I've been in a tizzy all day trying to figure out how to fix Pocket's leg! I call my last hatchling Pocket because he/she rides around in my shirt pocket while I'm in my brooder room.

You might be able to see hoe Pocket (L) has its leg stretched out behind. Poor little one can't seem to keep that leg in the right position and scooches around with the one leg behind it. I know I'm running out of time to figure out a good treatment as the older he/she gets, the more likely it will be permanent. Suggestions?

Awwww, thanks guys!!!

LOL, the feature presentation are my troubled pidgey eggs. They are on day 15 today. Should I be buying another set of eggs? I have my doubts about any hatching from the 4 left in bator.

First pic is a good ancona egg set same day for comparison:

This is the 1st pidgey egg. It is STUCK to wall, but otherwise developing very nicely:

This is my 2nd pidgey egg, which is questionable to me, but hubby swears he saw movement in the sloshy fluid when he took picture, and it does have some blood coloring.

Then there is egg 3, with nice movement and veining, but see all the sloshy fluid in it still?

This is my best developer, but also still has a lot of fluid (not that you can tell from this angle):

CG, your baby was in a hurry to hatch! 4 hours is fast!

Quackers, wish I knew what to say about your cutie!

Going Quackers -

I have sometimes had foot issue with my baby ducks (I hatch many many every spring and summer), and honestly, I have had them simply out grow it pretty often. I believe its got something to do with where the leg ended up in the egg. I remember very specifically Pekings having this more than Khakis do. I suppose out of 10, 7 are getting around ok by the first month. Three became dinner ducks, when they couldn't get around at all. (you know how fat pekings get)

You might try moving the leg front and back a bit every day, to keep it from fusing that way. That's all I ever did. Good luck.

Iain - I've had sloshy egg ducks hatch, but not all of them. I've never been able to figure if they were ever stuck to side or not. Perhaps if its just a bit of the membrane stuck and kinda holding her there, she'll be ok. IF they are still developing, I'd leave them, just in case. Of course, I'm only a duck princess, not a duck queen. (little d as opposed to big D)

apparently he thought it was a race or something bcuz i didnt expect a baby until tomarrow morning.
i lifted the hen up to make sure he was makin progress and check the other egg (still no internal pip)
and i have an empty egg and yellow baby scurrying around under her.

he is a very fiesty baby

and iain eggs 2 & 3 do look odd.
but i agree if they are growing and have veins leave em for now . and hope for the best .
but if your are set on hatching babies that are cayuga (is that what those are? sorry if not so many to keep up with)
then i would order more just to be sure you get some.

UNO isn't a white call, would be all yellow if he was. Could be a snowy or a blue fawn. Our blue fawns are born looking just like that. :D

Iain, not too sure about those eggs there. They deffinetly look questionable, I would be watching them closely so you don't end up with a surprise oozer.

Update on hubby, he is in extreme pain tonight that even IV meds aren't touching. :( we have a starting point though with the specialist Pasonage Turner syndrome. It's atleast a starting point and hopefully they can get it under control for his sake. Hoping he will still come home tomorrow, but now worried he might be there for awhile. Will be taking the baby to see if tomorrow if he isn't allowed to come home.
