Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Marty if done right they can sorta hop around. Lots of threads in the chicken hatching area about leg splints. I have even made foot shoes outta thin craft foam and then medical tape to correct curled toes on Peafowl hatchlings in the past.

Thanks Marty, it's a one day at a time and plan the next days attack the night before. Very lucky to have a teenager who enjoys the farm and steps up w/o being asked.

Quackers, make a splint out of a band ade or vet wrap to hold the two legs together. It could likely be straddle leg, it will take a few days to correct and strengthen with the help of a splint.

I've got the legs held together with a pipe cleaner above the hock and have Pocket propped up where hopefully he/she won't fall into the water bowl again. I came back from buying the pipe cleaners to find little booger soaking wet, stuck in the water dish!

im hopeing he is something other than snowy . so i can have another color.
but if hes snowy i will love him just the same.
altho if he is a boy then he may not be able to stay . i can only handle so many hormonal males around here.

Hopefully she is a she then. I wish mine would hurry and finish feathering in so I know what colors they are for sure, lol.

GQ, make a sling seat. Plastic cup with a seat for the duckling holding the legs in proper position. Use smaller cups taped to the outside for food and water so pocket can still stretch those legs and get to food, but not get flipped, stuck or soaked. Think human baby bouncer seat, but for ducks.

Thanks for all of the replies. I think I will toss #2 in the morning, as I will be out of town for a few days and would hate for hubby to have to worry about a bad egg situation.

Julie, the geese were on horse property when I had babies outside. They still come over every morning to window, but given how the goslings were outside today, we will wait another week before we take them back outside.

Celtic, oh man... iv meds are not working? :(

pretty sure 2 of yours will be snowy.
but the 2 magpies may change color after first molt.
my drake was black until his first molt and then turned blue. lol. (not sure if this is always the case)
