Oh geez, CG, I can't believe it happened because of a stuffed animal??

idk he looked like he had been laid on .
so unless one of the bigger ducklings had somehow gotten in there.
which i guess may have happened ill ask grandma if he was dead when she left for work ar 5am.

im just soo mad at myself i didnt want the hen to get off the nest so i could set more eggs under her so i brought him inside if i had left him he would have been ok.
=/
i need to stop blaming myself.
and i dont think the other egg is going to hatch they were due saturday and the other one has no progress i dont even think its internally pipped.
im going to check when it gets dark to see if he is internally pipped or if it died 2.
if so ill pop more eggs underneth her.


i better get another broody sittin this week.
i have 2 1/2 dozen eggs now.

CG, that really is a bummer!!! With 30 eggs though.... that is worth spending $50-60 on an LG still air bator.... and cooking them yourself!

well i have a hen with 13 eggs in a nest .
so she should start sitting soon.
i have another small hen with 8 eggs so she should start soon 2. and
the hen that has been broody i can fit a dozen under her.

so as long as they start sitting this week ill be ok.

im not allowed to have 2 incubators running.
which sucks.

my eggs are due next week.

i have some for sale on ebay .
and cl.

so we will see.

i might borrow my aunts and run 2 bators. or c if she will incubate some for me at her house. and ill take the babys when they hatch

That's a good idea about your Aunt. If you were closer I'd put them in mine.

CG, it sounds like a larger duck got in with him. Stuffed animals aren't so heavy that a duckling can't get out from user them. So very sorry.

Iain. I have three boxes to go pick up this morning. I know what two are (one being Erin's eggs) so hopefully you get yours too.

So hubby won't be coming home, lots of drama over night with him in the hospital.

Woke up and the time change has my morning turn out routine really off. I won't let the animals out while it's still dark, so it was about 7:40 before I could turn everyone loose. Found one of our fainting goats dead in the pasture. no trauma, no injuries, just gone. Some days I dispose farm life, today is one of those days.

This week is off to a bad start ya'll. I don't like it. Maybe I should leave everything penned up today.


Oh and this is weird... but I went out to check on everything last night and one of the hens laid an egg. So sometime in between 5 and 630pm. Weird!

Whats new Julie? My little DD is name Julia.

Love DD's name. I remember when I was little I was mad my name was Julie and not Julia, lol.

Here are pics of the my 3 wrong enders. These all pipped yesterday afternoon/last night, so they have had 12 hours or so to do a bit more resting. I have a total of 25 eggs in the bator, and I have 2 others that have pipped in the right end.

Advice and help needed, thanks!

#1, this one pipped the earliest and looks like he's made the most progress.



#2 was second in pipping, and has opened the shell some...



And number 3, which has not made much progress at all.

I'd start helping too, but remember once you start you usually need to help them all the way.

Second gosling is out and fluffed up.

Going to be a long day with hubby, will check in when I can.

Just got a call from the doctor. I am sooooo **** sick of this. The knee surgery that I had almost 16 years has failed. I had torn my ACL.MCL and the ham string. I got bucked off of a horse. Well now I am suppose to get into surgery as soon as possible. I have my back being worked on today and now I am told I have to have surgery AGAIN on my knee. I am so depressed. I can't take much more that is for sure. Oh yeah, some of my duck eggs that are due Next week, are trying to pip today. what else is going to happen.................

Poor SM! The acl thing hurts, i tore mine ages ago but they told me since it had been too long from when I tore it until I went to the dr that surgery only had a 30% success rate or some crap like that, so I never had it and have arthritis in that knee now.

its all my fault.
i woke up to a dead baby duck.
i should have left him with the hen lastnight.

i swear im cursed

Lol, thanks! No rooster doing his thing yet though, so by the time I set more eggs I should have room. All 10 due saturday are looking great. Air cell is way down and I can see little bills nosing around the tops of the membranes. They look so close to pipping I think I may have early hatchers. I know how slow these guys are though, so wouldn't surprise me if they are right on time.

Hoping for my first 100% hatch with these guys, can't believe I've had no clears or quitters with them at all.
