Thanks everybody. I feel really terrible right now. I know it's just part of farm life and I guess I'd rather have this happen than to lose one to a predator. Either way, losing a duckling really sucks. I hope nobody else has to deal with such a sad thing anytime soon.

My khaki campbell duckling and the last black runner (who I wanted to keep) went to their home this afternoon. The woman and her son were both very educated duck owners and they even walked me through vent sexing while they were here. I feel good that those ducklings went to a good home.

I still have a pair of fawn and white runners and a pair of silver runners. I am looking to end up with three keepers and it looks like it will be the pekin trio. If I vent sexed right, there are two drakes and a duck in that group and I think I have a future home for the extra drakelet.

Trying to set up a meeting with someone the next county over to sell 2-3 more.

I just look at all those eggs in the bator and it makes it a bit easier to send these babies to new homes.

Hey jaz! Glad you are selling a bunch, since you hatched so many babies recently. I thought you were taking a break from setting eggs?

But... If you really want more eggs, I bet sebrightmom has eggs to sell. Love her. I also recommend this new seller for cayugas, but she can only send 6 at a time. For anconas, definitely go with thistle down farms. They are in Cali, so nice short ship to you. Of course, I would get silver apples from Celtic.

Did you see that I got my precious buff dewlap eggs yesterday?? They will be my grand finale for this spring. Hope I can get at least one to hatch!

I had to send Pocket to the Rainbow Bridge today. She was looking pretty rough, so I ran her water in the sink for a swim. But when I put her in, she just sank. Her legs had atrophied to the point that she couldn't swim. So I loved on her a bit, and then did what I had to do.

I'm a little heartbroken right now, so...

they are dying.
all my ducklings were fine yesterday (besides 1 questionable 1)
and now i have 2 dead.
and the rest i have no clue what is going on with them i cant c anything.
i only know that 2 are doing good. and i am DEFFINATELY ext. pipping for them tonight! im not taking any chances on them.

I'd help them. They're calls, they might need it.

What day are they due, SM? My giant white pekings are due the 24th. Maybe we can be duck hatching buddies!

They should be due sometime around the 28th, same time as my BEI's

what kind is the "momma" duck? she is gorgous!

She isn't the mama to the babies. She is a Buff Oprington and the babies are from Pekin eggs I bought. She did not like those babies being with her. She is sitting on some eggs herself.

My turkey keeps having this. I just keep washing it. It never seems to be a problem with the ducks.

I have two Blue Breda Polish chicken eggs that look really really weird. They have about 8 days before hatching and it almost looks like the something is stuck to the inside of the eggs. I drew a picture and I hope you can understand it.
