Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Hey... just popping in for a quick break. We have been setting up the grow out pen for our oldest ducks in the garage... and are getting ready to move the outdoor pen into garage for the goslings. This should be fun, considering the parents make the best guards for those babies!!

Brooder room looks empty with only the 4 month old anconas... hope I have a good hatch with the set in lockdown!

Evening all, Nice to see you SM.

Lucky us A1 this evening, absolutely perfect now. I've got him alone in the brooder (the chicks are a little rough) but he's content to sleep a bit alone. Maybe tomarrow we'll give him a friend. To bad he's the only one of 10 eggs to make it here.

I moved the baby quail from 4 weeks ago out to the garage today. Had to make room in the brooder bedroom incase the quail come, or the Old English.

Yawn, I'm heading to bed early. Night all!

I know why my ducks were missing now!!! One of the hens is making a nest! YAY! She has a cute little nest, with 3 perfect little eggs in it, wish i knew where the other hen was laying her eggs!! That way i could slip them in her nest... I just hope the goats don't mess with the eggs!!!

Next time your ducks disappear... spend a little more time looking for them before you FREAK me OUT like that. Thanks!
I wouldn't think the goats would bother them. I wonder if she'll be a good mama?

Well..... just on an impulse... I put a super low bid on some saxony eggs. I was the only bidder and won them for $5. Seller emailed me and said she has 14 and will add 1-2 if they lay more in morning before she ships them out tomorrow. Whoops.... hope I like saxonies!

The appleyard auction is almost over... and so far I am still the high bidder. Guess I will have a full bator again in a few days!

ETA: just won the SA eggs. QJ, I told seller you recommended me.

Holy Quack! You're going to have Saxonys coming out of your ears! They are sweet though.

wow. room killer

Hey SM!

Later DG and Marty!

And in QuackerJack News...

I lost another Swedish Flower Hen. This time to my chicken mauling dog Annie. Somehow she managed to get through the chicken wire and pull a baby through the hardwire. I have fixed the problem. So now she will have to chew through 2 inches of wood. I don't think this will happen, but I'll watch it anyway.

:( It was my only red.

I have bad luck with this breed. That and Lavender Orps. I only have one out of 2 different breeders. Stupid!

I have a cocker spaniel that loves chicken...she can scale a chain-link fence in 2 seconds flat. I have to put her on a dog cable when I let her out into the yard, so she can't get over the fence.

Bummer. I wish everything could just get along.. Without the threat of someone eating something else. I have to bring Annie inside during the day and let her out at night. Really, if those babies were a little bigger it would have been alright. Hopefully I fixed it though. I really think I did.
