Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

And in QuackerJack News...

I lost another Swedish Flower Hen. This time to my chicken mauling dog Annie. Somehow she managed to get through the chicken wire and pull a baby through the hardwire. I have fixed the problem. So now she will have to chew through 2 inches of wood. I don't think this will happen, but I'll watch it anyway.

:( It was my only red.

I have bad luck with this breed. That and Lavender Orps. I only have one out of 2 different breeders. Stupid!

I'm so sorry.

Bummer. I wish everything could just get along.. Without the threat of someone eating something else. I have to bring Annie inside during the day and let her out at night. Really, if those babies were a little bigger it would have been alright. Hopefully I fixed it though. I really think I did.

She is the only one of the 3 dogs I have that wants to eat the chickens. I will never have another cocker, or any bird loving dog, again. My toy fox terrier, and my english shepherd are great with the birds.....in fact, they are only brave with the ganders if there is a fence between them, lol.

also i think the black duckling is a hen and the brown 1 a drake.
he is more quiet when i pick him up.
she flips out, and almost quacks. its like i can hear it starting to come,
any day now she will quack and have that confused look on her face that they get when it first happens.
plus the brown one still peeps alot.
the black one her voice is starting to crack when she peeps.

and the geese, well they are just all around aquward and clumsy right now

I have a confession. I've been watching the live hatching feed from Metzer Farms all weekend. I'm trying my best to stay patient until mine are ready to lockdown in two weeks.

my cocker use to be the same way .
he would chase the birds everywhere.
grandma broke him of it, the old fashioned way, since even a shock collar wouldnt stop him

now he just follows the birds around when hes outside trying to get close to them to see them.
he is bonkers about any bird,
and specially loves the babies in the house, he checks on them every time he comes inside,

I forgot they have that. Probably a good thing that I did, or I'd have a whole lot more eggs in the bator right now
