Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

We set 22 indian runner eggs at school today. I'm sure I'm more excited than the kids, but a few of them really want to bring a duck home and are pretty excited about our project. I told them it was up to Mommy's and Daddy's, I had no say in them bringing home ducklings.

But since we set them this morning, what is today... Day 1? So Day 25 is Saturday, 21 April? Which is when I should remove them from the turner and drop the temp.
Or is today Day 0 and Day 25 is Sunday, 22 April?

I'm creating a calendar to hang by the incubator so we can make sure we are doing what we need to be doing.
Also going to print out a development chart to show them as well.

OMG how awful, Kevin!! I'm so sorry!!

.

Last night the family "Helped" me by doing all the animal chores. This morning I awake to my sweet Molly mutilated. Someone didn't properly latch the duck latch and he got out at night. To make it worse my Dane was the predator. Now I've lost two of my babies back to back and can't look at my dane without busting out in tears. I know it's not her fault but it doesn't make it any easier. So I've spent my day in and out of hour long sobbing spells. Please tell me everyone else's day went better?

I go by day 0 as the day I set them. I set call ducks today too.

Will you be leaving the incubator at school over the weekend? I'd stop turning saturday then, just in case you get an early one while everyone's gone.

Kevin, by the way.... perhaps you can answer a question for me. I was wondering how to request that a post be made a sticky. A few pages back, Celtic posted amazing step by step pics for how to wrap a duckling with angelwing. It really needs to be stickied!!

For those dealing with Plum run, where are they located, and did they give any time frame at all? If they can not tell you even a month your orders would be filled in, I would be questioning them. I know HWF can take sometime because of the size of their breeding program, but they respond to inquiries. If PR has a phone number listed I would be calling. Otherwise a PayPal dispute might be in order. Maybe that would get a response.
I haven't received an email giving the month I will get my SQ silkie ducklings from Holderread yet either, so I guess I'm jumping the gun. I should hear something within the next 3 weeks.

On a good note, it's wonderful to see your new babies, Utah and sbost. Absolutely wonderful.

Utah. you have done such an incredible job with those ducklings. I hope you are simply bursting with pride - you should be!

If she can copy and post it into a new thread a few of us will have to "report" it. Then in the other option we can explain why this would make a good sticky. If the Staff agrees they will make it a sticky
