I haven't received an email giving the month I will get my SQ silkie ducklings from Holderread yet either, so I guess I'm jumping the gun. I should hear something within the next 3 weeks.

Thanks, they are a result of strict culling and of course a vision.

Oh No! I'm so sorry.....

Quackers, what did he say about the last set that were brooded in the tub?

Nothing. Other than "eww it stinks in here." Which just kinda goes with the territory when ducks poop which they do all the time!

It's a spare bathroom above our garage, not like I'm keeping them in the master bath.

Oh, Kevin! How horrible! I cried when Emily died a few days ago (she's the one I named my account in tribute of). She's the black duck in my picture. I know how hard it is to love a favoured duck! It must hurt to have another loved one be the culprit, too. I'm so sorry. Hopefully the morrow will bring happiness for you

On a good note, it's wonderful to see your new babies, Utah and sbost. Absolutely wonderful.

Utah. you have done such an incredible job with those ducklings. I hope you are simply bursting with pride - you should be!

Thanks!!!! It feels wonderful that it worked out so well!!! Here are my last two (the ones I am MOST proud of). They are almost ready to be moved to the brooder tank with the others.

My Sebbie started peeping at me yesterday. Wont be long now. I hope so much that it makes it. I want it so bad. I already named it Sebastian. I have an EE that has externally popped. I can see its tiny little beak sticking out.
All of my sweet BEIs hatched and got moved out with the chickens. My Silkies are making fantastic mommie to all the little ones out there.
All my baby Pekins from the first hatch are all outside living with the big ducks.
I received a dozen call duck eggs and a dozen runner eggs yesterday. Not sure who sent them to me though. But thank you very much whoever did.

I just wanna see how Goin Quackrrs's Upside Down Pineapple cake turns out. We ate the last of ours tonight. Dashedly fine cake recipe, that. You really can't have too much butter.
Great news about the Sebbie eggs, QJ. Man, I wish I could have a goosie.

We're going to hold off on the cake until the weekend I think. Hubby decided that it wasn't an appropriate child's birthday cake. This coming from a man who LOOOOOOVES a good pineapple or peach upside down cake.

Christine... No maintenance = grower sorry I know what I ment but typed different.
Those looking for Mazuri you WON'T get it from a TSC, they are the Walmart for livestock feed. You have to get it from private feed stores, and then they have to be a purina dealer. If ou visit the Mazuri web site you can search for anyone near you who carries it. I don't use the sinker feed, only the floater. It goes in feed pans, not the water . Then when they drag it to the water it does float and they clean it up nicely. It isn't added directly to their water because each group of ducks/geese gets a blend of feed. The Mazuri is the base and we add whole grains depending on the breed.
Woke up to a Scovy hatched out, all the rest of the eggs in the duck hatcher are pipped and chugging right along.
Set the American geese eggs into their hatcher, lots of pushing in that group. The Sebbies and Poms are half internally pipped. Should be a busy rest of the week.

I found one place that would special order Mazuri for me. But they are an hour south and I work 40 minutes north of where I live. I don't have that kind of time or gas money.

I must be invisible now

I seeeeeee yoooooou!

Our first mixed hatch is cheering on his mates... and says mom... keep the plugs out of the hatching incubator and watch the temperature! Lastly we finally have progress after 22 hours!!!

What an adorable baby! What breeds is it a mix of?

really guys $40 for 50 lbs of Mazuri

I have started getting Certified Organic feed from my workplace that buys it by the half ton. It's a little bit more than what we were feeding (TSC all-purpose mixed with oats), but it's a bargain compared to the Mazuri. I wish Mazuri was more widely distributed. With enough demand, the price would probably go down a bit.

wow maybe when i hit the lottery or when the girls start laying golden eggs. =/
i hate the feed they are on but its all our feed store carries. they quit carrying the good stuff.
the ducks loved the stuff they use to have, now they went to a different kind.

i think next time im at rural king im going to see what kinda of flock raiser they have , if its crumbles or pellets.
plus i plan to get some alalfa pellets for the geese (to mix in the feed) ive been flowly introduicing them to the big ducky food.

but celtic opinions on the alalfa pellets?
or do you have other suggestion what i can add to the feed that the ducks can also eat ,
i already add oats.

I wish my girls would lay golden eggs. I've got five dozen in the fridge and no buyers except the guy who called about balut earlier. Sorry, my incubator is used for other things... like LIVE ducklings.

By the way, Cocoa, it meant a lot to me to have you reading and posting replies at 3am when I was going through the crisis. I haven't yet said thank you. So, thank you.

ETA: I also want to thank Celtic and QJ for their help. Without them, I would not have known how to help my wrong way ancona baby.

Fact: Ducks poop approx. every 6 minutes while they are awake. And they are incontinent. So take my advise: Don't fall asleep with a duckling sitting on you stomach. You'll regret it when your dress is befowled.
