Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

By the way, we moved the last 2 babies into brooder tank a few minutes ago. They settled in nicely. Whew!! :D

Gave my bator a steaming hot hose down and now trying to dry it out asap so I can move goose babies over first thing in the morning.

.... I'm sorry Lain. I hope someone learns from my mistake!

YOU did DG! That's why this thread exsists. (excists, exsist , how do you spell that? Exsist...

OK, no more chipping for me

... I always screw everything up.

Hey, it's hard getting the timing just right. I left two too long last hatch. One died in the egg and the other was Pocket.

I'm trying really hard to be a hands-off hatcher, but I'm too paranoid.

Unless it's something potentially catastrophic like a pointy end pipper, you can usually be fine just making sure the little one can breathe.

You ought to spend a weekend watching the Metzer hatchcam. It takes forever and a day for those ducklings to hatch. And they are totally hands-off. By the end of the weekend, all you can see is a huge pile of fuzzy duckies.

It's ok DG. It is part of learning. We all make mistakes and while I lost a few along the way, I learned enough to save a lot of babies the other night.

I'm so excited to meet the Rouen ducklings when they hatch. Do you happen to have a crested in the flock? I thought I saw onw in your photos.

No, sorry, no crests. I'm excited for mine to hatch :D......... Don't worry, my hands will stay off!
